ABOUT

THE AREA

Notting Hill is synonymous with vintage shopping, lush greenery and celebrities. However, this area of the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has a thriving art and music scene, a wonderful tight-knit community and plenty of opportunities for a day- or two - of fun.
For the first 4 weekends in December Portobello Market is moving to a schedule of winter weekends. Expect four weekends of performances, market stalls and festive delights.
A favourite for Instagrammers and first-timers to Notting Hill are the brightly coloured residential properties along Portobello Road, Elgin Crescent and Westbourne Park Road which offer a wonderful treat of vibrant colour and photo opportunity.
Walking from the apartment to Portobello road you are sure to pass the museum of Brands where you can explore 150 years of brands, packaging and advertising though the permanent exhibition the ‘Time Tunnel’ created by consumer historian Robert Opie. Pop in and look around it’s all here… the brands and packs, posters and ads, fads and fashions, toys and games. Evocative and inspiring, it’s a kaleidoscope of images and iconic brands.
Notting Hill, the now-classic movie, was filmed in and around the area, William Thacker’s flat with its famous blue door can be found a short walk along the Portobello Road.
The Electric Cinema is one of the oldest working movie theatres in Britain, you will need to book in advance if you want to relax during your trip and experience a film in this historic setting while you can. The movie theatre will soon become Soho house members only - its not just any cinema.

If that isn't enough to get you ready to explore London, our guest LOVE the apartment's location, it is minutes from the Tube and central London is on your doorstep.
