THE AREA

The predominantly residential neighborhood of Kensal Green and Kensal Rise in west London attract a lot of creative people that migrated out of neighboring Notting Hill in the last decades and has a nice village feel, with artisinal shops and cafes. Well connected by tube and bus, it makes it easy to pop over to the center of town. Nearby Notting Hill is probably most famous for its annual carnival in August (and the rom-com), but there's a lot more to the neighborhood than that. Let's start with the elegant streets, lined with Victorian townhouses - and Portobello Road, home to the world's largest antique market, second-hand shops and more. It's a great place to explore and bargain hunt. It's also a great area for eating (and drinking) out.
